As a huge coffee addict, I was thrilled when I had learned that coffee made its way into the beauty/skincare industry.  A few months ago I found out about Frank, a coffee body scrub that magazine editors, bloggers, etc. have all been raving over.  After checking out their website and reading their ingredients, I realized that this scrub could easily be recreated at home.  Instead of paying ~$15 for a bag, you can make a similar scrub with ingredients that are probably already in your kitchen!

Here's what you'll need:
  • 1/2 cup of ground coffee
  • 1 tablespoon of coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of unrefined coconut oil

I love this scrub because of its dual qualities as both an exfoliator and moisturizer.   Ground coffee, coarse sea salt, and brown sugar act as exfoliants, while coconut oil hydrates the skin.  In addition to making your skin feel softer and renewed, this scrub can also be used to target the cellulite and stretch marks.  Coffee, a diuretic, can help reduce their appearance by drawing out excess water from your skin and increasing blood flow circulation.

Directions:
Mix the ground coffee, sugar, and coarse sea salt together in a bowl.  Once it is thoroughly mixed, add in the coconut oil.  If your coconut oil is solidified, melt it by placing the jar in a bowl of hot water.  When your scrub reaches a paste-like consistency, transfer it to a glass container (I used a Mason Jar).

Apply a small handful of the scrub on dampened skin and rub in circular motions.  Leave the scrub on for 5 to 10 minutes, then wipe off excess coffee into the trash to prevent drain cloggage.  Rinse the remaining off and voilĂ  — your skin will feel super soft and rejuvenated!
